Job Description

A vacancy has arisen in the Operations Department for a Post Irradiation Examination Technician. This position involves the remote handling and examination of post irradiated nuclear fuel. This is an exciting opportunity to join the operations teams on a permanent shift basis to perform this important role that will keep our submarine fleet at sea now and in the future.

The Submarines sector of Rolls-Royce has been providing power systems expertise to the Royal Navy’s fleet of nuclear-powered submarines since the early 1960’s.  At the Vulcan site we have been leading the way by operating full-scale prototypes of the Royal Navy’s Nuclear submarine plants as the lead of class. As a site we have been involved in the trials, testing and data collection across all the reactor cores designed and developed for the Ministry of Defence.

This job opportunity gives you the chance to join in this exciting challenge to train and develop yourself, and the processes used. At Vulcan we believe in team spirit and encourage the teams and people to evolve and invent new processes and techniques to develop a greater and clearer data stream.

Work with us and we’ll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for someone already experienced as a Mechanical, Electrical or Instrument tradespeople to develop. The required specialist training will be given, and a set training programme is in place to help with your career development.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include a company bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

This is an opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and interest in this exciting and specialised field in the nuclear submarines business
